  • Email

We have received a copy of an email asking for usernames and passwords that is being sent to our customers. It tries to look official and even has a disclaimer at the bottom. We do not send any email like this, our policy is to have customers call and get authenticated rather than use email which is insecure both to protect your identities and our servers from abuse.

If you receive an email like this it is not from us and is likely from a computer that is infected with a virus or a spammer attempting to hack your account. You should immediately delete the message and do nothing it asks for. If you have already sent your email username and password please call our technical support team at 474-HELP to change your password asap. Thank you.

  • Software

In a recent release of Adobe Acrobat Reader there was a security hole that allowed for a few PDF based viruses to be released on the internet. Even third party readers like FoxIT are susceptible to the viruses. Click here to read an article with some links to help you with this threat.

Antivirus 360 and its clones, Antivirus 2008, Antivirus 2009, XP Antivirus 2008 are malware packaged to look like anti-virus software. It is hard for most infected users to remove, but is fixable and using the proper removal tool should leave the system unharmed. We have been using a program called Malware Bytes (http://malwarebytes.org) to remove this problem. It is a free program and also removes other spyware and malware from computers.

New Update - We are seeing a decline in the number of AntiVirus360 infestations but it is still out there and you should continue to be careful not to be enticed to click on a popup to install this software or one of its clones.

If you have this program on your computer call 474-HELP to discuss repair options.
